*SOLD* Via Craigslist. She'll have a happy new life in Louisville.
I am selling my beloved 1970 Correct Craft Barracuda. I found this boat under an old oak tree 6 years ago - rotten to the core with a blown engine. Over the subsequent years I have taken what started as a "fix it and use it" project to something closer to a real restoration with quite a bit of help from my friends CCF and DIM. Along the way I have made some modifications that "purists" may disapprove of, but improve the usability of this classic piece of fiberglass. I've tackled one major project per year, with the goal of keeping the boat useable throughout the process. Now that the project is coming to completion (these sort of things are never really "DONE") my interest has shifted, and I'm interested in another boat! I have loved this boat and the project that it became, but it's time for me to move on. As the boat sits it's an oil change and once-over away from being ready for the water. There are a few trim pieces missing, and there is always "one more thing" to make it perfect, but as it sits, she's ready for someone else to come along and put her to work! All-in-all the project has turned out to be a great running, great looking, useable direct drive inboard ski boat. It comes with all of the quirks of a 44 year old machine trying to live up to modern expectations, but also the style that turns heads everywhere I've taken it!
Technical Description:
17'1" fiberglass hull, updated with "Flag Blue" and "Classic White" Interlux Topside finish (2011). All wood structure and floor replaced using modern techniques and materials (2012). Original Holman Moody (yes, THAT Holman Moody) maranized Ford 302 rebuilt (2009), with updated Holley 4 barrel carburetor (2009, rebuilt 2013) and Mallory electronic distributor (2013). Original 1:1 Velvet Drive transmission with new driveshaft (A.R.E. system, field serviceable), Acme 1210 propeller (12.5x12RH), new strut bushings, and drivetrain alignment (2013). Updated CSS Dripless packing gland (2009). Interior updated by previous owner (respectable, but aging), and new Overton's Premium carpet and white bilge coat (2013). Complete re-wire with all new accessories (horn, lights, bilge pump, blower) and a new battery (2013). Original trailer in serviceable, but "survivor" condition with new axle, hubs, bearings, wheels, and tires (2012). You will see the boat in use without a windshield in some pictures, it was damaged in 2012 and took over a year to source a replacement. It now has glass from a donor boat, and all original trim was polished and re-used. Custom teak swim platform with quick disconnect brackets (for storage in my small garage) and hull reinforcements (Barracudas did not have platforms from the factory). Custom aluminum ski pylon mounted to original mounting points to work with (included) Big Air Extend Pylon.
Please email via the link below with any questions about the boat. You'll be hard pressed to find a more "useable" inboard ski boat in this price range - definitely not one that is guaranteed to have ZERO rot, and such a healthy running (and unique) engine. I've had this boat on nearly every major lake in KY, and several pools of the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers, and have never had a trip where I didn't get a big "thumbs up" or the inevitable "gas pump conversation" about it. The boat is currently located at my home on the NW side of Lexington, KY. I have 2015 tags (she is only $57/year to tag in KY), and a clean title in my name. All of these pictures are from the last couple of years of use. I'll update this ad with more pictures when I drag the boat out this weekend and get it cleaned up after storage.
