Back in the good old days - before kids that is - my wife and I were looking at Nautiques at the boat show in KC. They didn't exactly have quite what we were looking for but said he had this one at a lake a few hours away. It was brand new and the dealer got it towards the end of the year with the new 2001 models with the 325hp engine (don't know which one that exactly is, but I'll find out). The newer boats sold quickly as everyone opted for more horsepower for the same money. After some negotiating, we agreed to buy it sight unseen, pending delivery and a spin around the lake. They agreed to have it to us within a week. Long story even longer, the boat delivery kept getting pushed back week after week by the dealer.
It took a phone call from the Meloon family to make it happen.
I was home one afternoon and took a call from Indianapolis. The gentleman was very nice and upbeat and told me his name was ___ Meloon. I think maybe Ken but can't remember now. I was pretty excited to hear that name as my wife and I had just read their book and loved the story of Correct Craft. He was congratulating me and asking how I was liking the new boat.
Funny you should ask Mr. Meloon! I told him the story about how the dealer has been dragging their feet and we actually haven't even seen the boat in person yet! After about 30 minutes of chit chat he promised to take care of it.
Exactly three days later, our boat was in and the rest is history. Love this company, and love their boats!
