Summer ’07 - This my first boat, so look for many clueless questions in the forums from me. My wife grew up on a small lake in Vermont and had great memories of summertime skiing and boating. We thought even though we live in the mountains of Colorado, we thought we could create similar memories for our three boys ages 10-14.
We take a few trips each year to Lake Powell, sometimes on a houseboat, sometimes in the lodge, and we spend time on the local reservoirs once the water temp comes up above freezing.
This 99 Sport has 300 hours and is in great shape. The only modifications I plan on making to the boat this year is to add a better sound system. Other than that, it is waxing the gelcoat, oiling the teak, 303ing the interior and general maintenance.
Summer ’08 update. I added the tower speakers, amp and XM. I also replaced the original stereo and speakers...what a difference. Kids are getting the hang of wake boarding, wake surfing and wake skating. My wife still gets in a ski every time we go out, but seems to be enjoying the surfing. We’ve added a large fat sac in the trunk and it seems to be doing the trick for now. We hang out on a mountain lake that has very little traffic. Wet suits are the norm to start the season, but nobody seems to mind. A few more trips to Powell are in the cards before the end of the season.
