We believe it is the transmission going out. Tranny fluid is creamy. We changed it and put clean in still having issues. Talked to a few marinas and haven't gotten any responses that give great confidence in sending it there to be done. Looking at replacing it ourselves. Its a 40a - 1.23:1 and appears the replacement would be a 80a from skidim.com How hard is this to replace? anything that we need to look out for before we order and dive into this? The PCM tranny is not too heavy. When replacing the tranny, you must also replace your damper plate and transmission cooler. You mentioned that the ATF was creamy in the post above. That could indicate water in the ATF -- most likely from the tranny cooler. I believe that Skidim includes a new damper plate and cooler with the new tranny kit. Unbolt the drive shaft coupler. Loosen or remove the drive shaft retaining collar. This should allow the drive shaft to slide aft enough for you to remove and replace the tranny. And, yes, you must perform an engine/tranny to drive shaft alignment. Lots of great advice here on CCF on how to do that. We will probably end up using the overhead hoist. Planning on getting the kit from SkiDIM with the cooler and damper plate as well so that its all fixed properly (fingers crossed). It sounds very doable for a couple of guys with a little common sense between the group unless I'm missing something.
