There you go Bruce... main body will fit but to centre it I have had to undo the float chamber mount will need to make up a bracket for it, will need to mod the valley tray to give more room under the carb’s. When in will add 2’ 3/4 inch to the height of engine. YH’s carbs have a 1’ 9/16 ventures the SU are 2’ inch, Not much to report still on honey doo’s duty.
Cheers Roger.

Is your goal to increase performance or reliability Roger? That looks like a rather large honey do list there bud. Any pictures of the Starflite or is it on the back burner?

Jack I’m hoping to build a max CI Y block, so yes just a performance upgrade and still keeping the engine as low as possible, there has been talk of stroker cranks by Scat but nothing as yet. The YH’s are good on a standard engines but will hold back a bigger CI engine with big valve heads.
Starflite is well hope to move it forward over the winter.
Cheers Roger.

Roger I wonder if a sidedraught CD Stromberg would have a lower profile? They were basically SU equivalents. Same as the SU's should be available in 1.5" 1.75" and 2"
Used to have a few different triple sidedraught carby setups on hot rod straight six motors in my boy racer days

Had SU's on a '67 MGB. Had to add oil to the carbs every time I drove it.

No stranger to sidedrafts here I bought a new MG Midget in 1970 after returning from VietNam. What a can of worms that was but as I remember the carbs performed ok. Still not having had enough of cans of worms I bought a 1962 Mrecedes 220b around 1980. It had sidedrafts as well. Were they Solex? Can't remember, but I remember getting a vacume gauge to synchronize them.

Another more recent option would be the Mikuni or Keihin carbs on motorbikes. Bikes took quite a few more years to switch to fuel injection. Throttle control and feel is big part of riding a bike fast.
I had a 2001 model V twin 1000c Honda that used two 1.9" (48mm) carbies was able to purchase after market jetting from Dynojet as well.

Roger, that's really interesting. I would think those would make a difference.
What are you building, a terrace?

Bruce, I'm putting in a base for a summer house/shed and a new green house.
Will update more on possible carbs, once I have fully checked out Marks Idea's.
Cheers Roger.

I had SU's on my Datsun Roadster as well, you should be able to find something cheaper than the Jag/rover types Roger mentioned. I'm always amazed at how creative and knowledgeable some of you guys are!
