I was looking at this month's wakeboard magazine and noticed an add from Session, a v-drive wakeboard boat that's been on the market for a couple of years. One line said "available with optional 8.1 liter diesel engine". Haven't had time to look into it yet, but thought it was interesting. I know I've read some discussion previously regarding what it might take to put a diesel powerplant into a watersports boat. BKH

Have you read http://www.wakeworld.com/getarticle.asp?articleid=516 - this article about the guy from Brazil who built a steel wake boat? He put a 6 liter Mercedes diesel in it.

http://www.volkswagen-marine.de/

TDI-225-6 its a 3.0ltr V6
gives 225-HP at 4.200rpm & 450Nm torque
715-LBS weight
fully dressed ready to build in
including fresh water cooling system
€ 29.000,- excl taxes

saw one at the Dusseldorf exhibition showed in a skiboat

Think others will follow Nannini=Toyota based already gives 200HP.

Alle based on direct injection diesel computer controlled technique.

Interesting Jos1.

I tried to do a little research on the Session, but there's not much out there yet. I guess, session is a division of the Regal Boat company which makes some sport cruisers and family I/Os. Session has a website, but it isn't very complete. If I'd have known about the diesel, I would have asked more questions at the boat show. BKH

I also saw the Session, the design is some of the way in my opinion.

The 8.1 ltr diesel???

The GM 8.1 ltr marine diesel with 180hp comes here for € 8 to 10.000,-.

For ski boating 180hp is far of, and i have some thoughts on durability at 3 to 3500rpm.
Its a truck engine which runs at 2 to 2500rpm normally.
