Just had installed on my '91 Nautique: GT40P Heads, cam and Edelbrock intake. Where do I find info on proper installation of the distributor? I work at a Ford dealer and one of my mechanics is doing the work. We just want to make sure it's done right. Any help from you would be appreciated.

Rotate engine util #1 cylinder is on compression stroke (TDC). Align distributor rotor to #1 post on distributor cap. Turn rotor counterclockwise (clockwise?) a bit so that when the gear engages it rotates to #1 post when fully seated.
Adjust timing. Note: It is sometimes necessary to rotate the oil pump rod a bit to aid in the mating of the distributor shaft and pump rod. |
