Ryan, I will be giving a call. A couple of my friends wants to go to Lake Murray on May 8. I wonder if I can get some information. We are thinking about staying the weekend. Is there a place on the lake you can stay at. Maybe a hotel or camping?

Told a few friends, they're coming too. I think Anthony lives in North Dallas.

Maybe I will go too. About 2 hours from my home. I have a few hours on the foil and would like to see some pros.

Ryan, this is your advanced warning about the Lake Murray event, we're about a month away it going on May 14 - 16th @ Buzzards Roost.

Any one is welcome to come out, it's like the reunions, but we are there to ride hydrofoils instead of looking at boats. There will be some looking to learn to ride and maybe even a pro or 2, people came from as far away as Ohio and California last year, with the majority being from OK and North TX. If you need more details look for it over on foilforum.com or email me through either site my name is the same both places.

Actually, I always thought there was an immense amount of time to consider the looming impact. You are so high up, and know right away what is coming next. I knocked myself stupid one time on an old chair. Stars, split lip, semi concious.

Lastly, that kneeboard foil would be stupid. You would kill yourself. As a former avid kneeboarder, you would never get me on one.

All I can say is I tried the Air Chair twice; can you say FACE-PLANT? There is very little reaction time from being OK to FACE-PLANT. However with that said I would be more than happy to try it again if I had the chance. Our motto is, "If your not bleeding, your not having any fun."

When I posted that I just went to google images and picked the first picture I thought captured what I was getting at. Today, just to pass the time on a cold grey rainy day I was rereading the "learn to barefoot" thread and discovered that the picture above is our own "lakeboy" Roy. What are the odds? Well its no surprise to me I picked this picture...I think Roy is the epitome of the determined barefooter.

Disheartened by the high cost of the hydrofoils, I tried to do some searching about what other sports are out there. I did a search for "watersports". Not what I was expecting.

It's the weekend after Mothers Day. We ride Friday after lunch until about noon on Sunday. Most likely we'll be in a friends Xstar and camping in the field at Buzzards Roost. Tell him to check over on Foil Forums for more info, we'll start posting details in about a month. Last year we had about 20 foilers and 5 or 6 boats, should be a few more this year.

By promoting barefooting here, I am not dissing foils at all. Look like a lot of fun. This guy lives on Keith's lake where we had the 2007 reunion. He did a demo for us and gave a couple of us (Keith and I) some instruction. Keith did much better than I. I could get up and go but I couldnt quite get it to plane level out of the water...I was the master of overcompensation. But I can see how it would be fun.

Yes it does- that video was taken with the stock 240hp motor and stock 13x13 Federal prop! It should pull even harder now with the 540. I keep trying to talk him into a top end upgrade for a few more mph for 1-foot stuff... he hasnt caved yet, but I think Im getting closer.

We did 3 flyers w/ the Federal on with our '88. I highly doubt it would have pulled them out of a deep though.

I've ridden the Air Chair and a SkySki and could tell the difference, didn't really like either one though! We pretty much all ended up on our heads after a few seconds with the Air Chair.

542

'86 is sitting in storage right now. Going to be tough to let it go this spring.

When you come out to Kent plan on stopping over for some Sky Ski lessons....

It was first for all of us, and we pretty much ended up on our heads after a few seconds. I may have posted the video of this before, I'll get it uploaded to my photobucket so it'll be in this thread.

Yeah.... we did 4 behind our '86 last summer. Deeped up.....

Barefooting and hydrofoiling go hand in hand though.
